VideoMonkey– Free – Before VideoMonkey, I enjoyed using a simple (yetefficient) video encoder calledVideoHub. A few years back the makers of that application abandoned the project andVideoMonkey sprung from it's demise. Using much of the same coding asVideoHub,VideoMonkey is a basic video encoder that excels in it'ssimplicity and speed (for a free application the compression times are quite impressive). VideoMonkey's totally free, so give it a try for your encoding needs.
Wondershare Video Converter– $39.95
WonderShare is an affordable video converter that tackles some of the more simple converting and encoding tasks. Some of the standout features include the ability to add a watermark to your video footage on export, join several separate video files into one larger one and export still images from your video. It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles as some of the others, but it's effective it you're dealing with common formats and need simple encoding.

The powerful MPEG Streamclip for Mac is a powerful video converter, editor. It's also a great organizational tool for all of your media. You can play the video, edit them by cutting, copying, pasting, and trimming before converting them. However, one of the big problem of this program is its poor compatiblity with new Mac operating system, for people who are going to upgrade to the new macOS Sierra, you will unavoidably encounter the similar situations listed as below: 
MPEG Streamclip will no longer open/play mp4s etc 
 I recently had to reinstall OS X 10.11.3 and all other open source and licence purchased software onto my Mac HD. The unique free MPEG Streamclip 1.9.2 will recognise title of mp4 file (shows in application viewing window) but says 'File open error: unrecognised file type'. Clicking 'open Anyway' button brings up window 'File open error: can't find video or audio tracks' warning. 
MPEG Streamclip for Mac - any alternatives? 
 I often use MPEG Streamclip to transcode to ProRes or DNxHD, but seeing as it does not use all threads for me (only one thread on a 3770K right now) and no development has been done to MSC since 2012 (does anyone know, if it is dead?), is there any alternative? 
Alternative to Mpeg Streamclip for Mavericks? 
 I'm trying to find a way to export my FCP projects to Quicktime X264 for internet delivery. In the past, I exported a master file and converted it using Mpeg Streamclip, but it doesn't work in Mavericks. Any inexpensive solutions?
